Frequently Asked Questions

What is Plasma Lift?

Plasma Lift, also known as Plasma Fibroblast, is a revolutionary non-invasive treatment used to lift, tighten and smooth the skin. It can be used to dramatically lift sagging skin, reduce fine lines, drastically improve scarring, reduce pore size, and improve tone and clarity overall. Although newer to the United States, Plasma Lift was invented over 20 years ago by Italian Plastic Surgeon Dr. Fippi, and is used by many cosmetic medical practices as an alternative to plastic surgery. The procedure is highly effective, with both immediate results and a continued improvement over 10-12 weeks post procedure. Final results are permanent for scarring, and last 3 - 5 years when used for lifting and tightening. The amount of treatments needed per client varies, however almost all clients have their desired results within 1 - 2 treatments.

How does Plasma Lifting work?

Our specialized, FDA approved Medical Plasma device works by utilizing the voltage in the air between its tip and the natural gasses emitted from just above the skin to form a true “plasma“ (ionized gas) charge. This tiny arc of electricity contracts and tightens targeted skin tissue. This is actually visible in real time, as the arc vaporizes the excess skin and instantly tightens the surrounding area. Your skin’s natural healing process then goes into overdrive and your body gets to work creating new fibroblast cells responsible for development of Collagen, which enhance natural volume and elastin in the skin, causing a further tightening improvement up to 12 weeks post treatment. After the treatment, you will leave with a grid of “carbon crusts”, which are essentially tiny scabs protecting the fresh new skin below as it heals and tightens.

What is the downtime?

Mild - moderate inflammation in the form of redness can be expected for the first 48 hours after treatment. This can be alleviated with an ibuprofen and periodic application of an ice pack. For very sensitive areas like the eyes, moderate swelling can be expected 24 - 72 hours after treatment. I do offer guidance on minimizing this swelling at your appointment. The “carbon crusts” are evident immediately post treatment and fall away naturally after 5 - 7 days. This is the only visible ‘downtime’, however it is not painful or inhibiting. Skin on the body (when compared to facial skin) takes longer to turn over, which means the carbon crusts take longer to shed - for areas like tummy, knees, the crusts will fall away around 10 - 14 days post treatment.

Why would I choose plasma lift over injectable filler, a laser treatment, or cosmetic surgery?

Because of the nature of the procedure, there is very little downtime, with no bruising, bleeding or overly pulled skin. While you can accomplish significant results, you will never look “done” with Plasma Lift. Compared to traditional lasers and cosmetic surgery, plasma lift is not only safer, but more affordable. Most clients see a significant difference from just one treatment, with those results lasting 4-5 years.

What can I expect at my PlASMA LIFT appointment?

All clients are required to pay a 25% deposit at time of booking to hold their appointment. Upon confirming, you will receive intake paperwork via email indicating a brief medical history, as well as your explicit consent to receive treatment. This is reviewed at the beginning of your appointment while we have a final consult before starting your treatment. You will then have a topical numbing cream applied and left to activate for about 20 minutes. We will begin your appointment after the area to be treated is fully numbed, and you can lie back while I work to smooth and tighten your skin. Depending on the area being treated, most plasma lift appointments last anywhere from one to three hours total. When you are finished, a medical grade healing serum will be applied, and you will be provided with your medical grade aftercare and detailed instructions, including a PDF version to refer to at home.

Are there any contraindications or negative side effects I should know about?

As Plasma Lift is minimally invasive, there are very few risks involved in receiving the treatment. Almost all skin types and textures are suitable for treatments. All clients are provided with detailed after care instructions and the correct products to take home after their treatment, which ensures you have everything you need for a fabulous result. If you are unusually prone to medically diagnosed keloid (not the same as a raised scar) or pigmentation conditions, these can disqualify you as a candidate which we will confirm when consulting - Adverse results can easily be avoided by thoroughly reviewing the intake form prior to your treatment, and following proper aftercare so as not to expose the healing skin to direct sunlight or products other than the prescribed after care. Scarring is extremely unlikely and can be completely avoided. The particular device I use for this service is the only FDA approved plasma lift device available on the market. Please contact me if you are unsure if you are a good candidate for Plasma Lift. You may not be a candidate for this treatment if you:

  • are pregnant

  • are prone to keloids and unusual scarring

  • your skin is darker than a level 4 on the Fitzpatrick scale

  • current have severe (active) acne, lupus, psoriasis, or vitiligo

  • have taken accutane/isotretinoin in the past year

  • have a pacemaker or any other medical implants

  • are sun tanned or darker than your natural skin tone at time of treatment - skin must be it’s natural base color to be treated.

Please avoid the following for 4 weeks prior to your plasma lift session:

  1. Botox or fillers

  2. Chemical Peels and laser treatments

  3. Tanning or heavy sun exposure

When can I return to my normal skincare routine?

You can begin to return to a modified version of your skincare routine after the skin is no longer sensitized, usually around two weeks. Peels, acids, exfoliants, lasers and anything similar should NOT be used for 4 weeks post treatment. The skin is still sensitive even after it appears fully healed, and following this timeline ensures protection against adverse results, scarring and hyperpigmentation. I do provide guidance through your healing process to help you back to your normal regimen while protecting your skinvestment!
